Elijah is coming home!!! He will be released tomorrow or Saturday =) So excited! The doctors can not believe how good he is doing , and how much he has improved in just 24 hours.

Elijah is now back up on the cardiac floor and is doing well. He is getting formula through a tube in his nose and they are slowly upping his feeds everyday. His left lung is collapsed , which we were told is not uncommon for this type of surgery. They look some x-rays today to try and find out why it collapsed. Doctors are pretty optimistic that it's just some fluid and it will get better on it's own. His oxygen levels are good , so no one is too worried at this point.
I finally got to hold him! So worried about hurting him, It's hard to tell if he's in pain or not.
Can not wait to start dressing him in all the cute cloths I bought him =)

Elijah had both is breathing tube and chest tube removed today! He is also off of morphine and just on a mixture of Tylenol and Advil. Sounds like he will move back up to the fourth floor tomorrow and out of the PCIU. He had his eye's opened today for the first time in almost 4 days, he smiled when he saw me. What a feeling it was to see that little guy smile.

Elijah is having another great day! Sounds like his chest tub is coming out tomorrow as well as the breathing tube! If that's the case , we may not be here as long as originally thought!

Elijah had a really good day . Blood pressure has evened out is is in the normal range. He keeps waking up , which he shouldn't be doing according to the nurses...guess someone forgot to read him the rules! He has a feeding tube going into his nose now so happy they are starting to feed him. His breathing tube was suppose to come out today , but since he has a narrow air way they are waiting until Monday when they have an emergency response unit available just in case something were to go wrong. The doctors in the PCIU don't feel comfortable enough to do it with out them.
Other then that he is fine. It's killing me that i can't pick him up and cuddle him...once i am able to hold him again i am not going to want to let him go.

Alright , heave a big sigh of relief , Elijah came out of surgery just fine. His heart is keeping up well to the new blood flow and his blood pressure is finally normal! Part of his condition is low blood pressure in the legs and high blood pressure readings in the arms, his is finally the same in all extremities which means a successful fix. The Mitorial vain will defiantly need to be either repaired of replaced in the future, we knew there was a narrowing of that valve as well ( again part of Shones syndrome) they just couldn't tell us the extent of the narrowing before the surgery. When this will happen though is something no one is going to be able to predict , it's a matter of watching the valve as he grows. For now we are focusing on the good and will deal with the rest as it comes.
The actual medical term for his condition is Coarctation of the aorta. It's the form of Shones syndrome that he is suffering from. There are different forms of the disease so just typing in "Shones syndrome" won't necessarily give the right info, and trust me some of the other types are damn scary. I have an excellent site that i will provide the link to as soon as i remember where i wrote it down in case anyone wants to know more.
Elijah just went into heart surgery. He is in the best hands possible. He has amazing , very caring doctors. I will update the blog sometime after he comes out. Right now they are expecting a 4 hour surgery. They are taking vains out of his wrist to assist with the repair after they take out the blockage. We are holding up well and so is Elijah , he is such a little fighter. This afternoon Andrew and I went into see him and he was wake..the nurses keep saying they have no idea how he keeps waking up =) He recognized us as his heart rate went up when he saw Andrew and he rolled his eye's and pursed his lips when he saw me..standard Elijah move.
